Basic Chinese 1 for Adults

Instructor: Yuehong Li
Designed for adults without any Chinese language background, this non-credit course will introduce you to Pinyin, the basic Mandarin phonetic system. Basic Chinese expressions and every-day words will be taught and practiced, emphasizing oral and listening skills. Basic Chinese grammar and the character writing system will also be introduced. Cultural aspects of the language will be touch upon as well.
Basic Chinese 2 for Adults

Continuation of Basic Chinese 1, this course will cover oral and listening language practice, adding new vocabulary and characters. Chinese grammar and writing will examined as well as conversational phrases
Chinese Calligraphy
Saturdays, 2:00 to 3:15 pm. 12 week course starting Sept 4th through Nov. 20th. At the Pfeiffer Charlotte campus, Room #16.
Instructor: Weihong Yan
Practised for over 6000 years, Chinese calligraphy communicates culture and is a highly revered form of art. In this practical class, students will study the use of ink brushes to write abstract characters ranging from traditional to modern Chinese calligraphy styles. This class is also recommended as basic training for Chinese brushpainting students. The course offers a fun and entertaining way of learning Chinese charactors without any difficulties.
Chinese Knotting

Chinese Kung Fu Beginners 1

Beginners Chinese Kung Fu course introduces students ages 15 and up to basic Kung Fu techniques and styles. Includes the five-step boxing style and Shaolin Linked Boxing styles.
Chinese Kung Fu Beginners 2
Saturdays, 3:00-3:45 PM. 10 week course starting Sept.18th through Nov.20th. At the Pfeiffer Charlotte campus, Student Center
This course will focus on Kung Fu advanced techniques and jumping styles. Requires completion of Chinese Kung Fu Beginners 1 or permission by instructor.

Introduction to Chinese Business Culture

Instructor: Kevin Tong
This course is designed to familiarize students with the basic concepts related to Chinese Culture, Business Etiquette, Organizational Behavior and typical problem solving techniques in international business settings. The course will also explore the cultural differences between the US and China, how to manage cultural differences between Chinese and western employees, and ways to effectively establish and develop successful business relationship with Chinese business partners and stakeholders.
Travel in China
